Principal Zamora-Day outlines Gidley's reopening plan for this Spring. Reopening begins in phases on April 19, 2021

hello gidley families I misses the Lord a very proud principal of get the school and with me today will be Mr Carranza we will be sharing what are School reopening plan will look like so we are your gibi team available to answer any question the day we will cover the following topics why we decided to reopen our safety guidelines or School Readiness are instructional model this will be for TK through 6th grade or social emotional support services and frequently asked questions so why have we decided to reopen this well we had a lot of things happening that made it possible for us to move into the opening scene availability with it being open to Educators as a board meeting over 400 of our staff members had appointments to get vaccinated are learning pods have been very successful that we chat over 600 students on campus and we haven't had not here but across the district haven't had any cases of infection between students or students and staff members and then we're moving into the left restrictive red tear the way we feel this will provide opportunities for students to grow emotionally socially and we will be able to provide services to those students that need them but above all our top priority is our students and staff safety we are committed to having a safe School environment and we are putting in place safety protocols following all of the guidelines that have been put out by our County and so we do want to make sure that everyone is safe on campus I will be sharing those safety guidelines with you and we are counting on that partnership that we have built with Stacy does start at home so we will be asking you to please support us by screening your child before leaving home and making sure that if they exhibit any of these symptoms the date they stay home alone this would be a fever equal to or greater than 204 degrees any new cost any diarrhea or vomiting and these are the decision password Pathways or guidelines that have been put out for us by LA County Department of Public Health are staff in turn will also be doing stuff Tax at home before reporting to work against a seed that started home and communication is going to be very if a child is identified as being exposed to a confirms a coma cast they must be sent home or must stay home so if a student is sent home or stays home they cannot return to the without being cleared by our school nurse and there is a minimum of 10 days at home before returning so as you get ready and you are right here on campus all of our students and or use must be wearing a face mask and we all have to have our temperature taken before entering the campus we will have designated areas of entering and exiting again everyone must wear their face mask the school day so when you come in and you will have different areas were students to come in we will be sharing this information with her teacher so that they go over it with students but we do want to make you aware that because of our safety guidelines parents will not be allowed on campus or Gates will open at 7:30 and school will start at 8 just be aware that we will need to make sure that the temperatures are taken and we are going to count on you to screen your child before coming so how have we prepared and how will you be preparing at home our School Readiness for students and families we I want you to make sure that the student has their Essentials when they're coming that they have their mascot a water bottle there books their materials for learning a laptop and their charger they will not be able to share supplies so they need to bring your own we will provide supplies in case of an emergency on campus again everyone breaking through eighth grade will be required to wear those face covering in our classrooms percent of our classrooms have sinks so all of our classrooms have thinks they have soap paper towels are restrooms or well. You also have hand sanitizer in eye our classrooms we know that hand washing is important to everyone so we have taken measures in installed hand washing stations across the the campus are here's a picture what it looks like I'm it is pedal activated so the students will be activating the Water by stepping on the pedal they'll be able to wash their hands dry their hands they have reminders of appropriate hand washing we have these water skipping hand washing stations across the campus so that students coming off of the playground will be able to wash their hands we also have water water bottle water filling stations across the campus we have four of them but here's an example of it we have turned off all of our Fountain so that we don't have any concerns there with students sharing the drinking fountain we do flush the water system periodically so that we maintain in good working order we are drinking fountains it does purify and chill the water let me come back really quickly to this light so that you can see where these drinking fountains are using water filling stations are we have them available for Primary students in the main hallway for a middle grade we have to in our middle grade buildings upstairs and downstairs restroom usage and safety we will be closing off stall so that students have separation one or two students are allowed in the restroom at the same time. need to wait with me to wait outside physically distancing we will have markers on the floors 4 rtk and first graders if they need to go with a classmate they will be able to but they will need to follow the social arrest Dewberry by lifespan and so again we will be closing off stalls to create the distance e in our classrooms and wanted to share with you what the desk you look like every desk has been in with a test yields they are a distance of 6 feet apart every classroom again has a sink and it's fully stocked we have removed the extra Furniture to accommodate for the social distancing air quality is something that we want to make sure we are very prepared with so we do have medication measures in place we have as part of the reopening plan the district has purchased these are cleaning machines so that is cleaning the classroom space four times an hour they do come with lifetime warranty at the medical grade HEPA filter it can last up to 3000 hours before needing to be changed there is an indicator change indicator light on the on the machine when the filter needs to be changed and it does come with a child lock to make sure we keep our stew again we are following CDC ventilation guidance so our facilities and maintenance staff has come through and make sure that are AC units adjusted our exhaust fans are working to full capacity this is an example of what the air filter looks like we do have examples of what some of the cleaning like where you are classrooms are being cleaned and disinfected daily but we do use the fogger 3 days a week Monday Wednesday Friday after school hours and we have these videos that show what it looks like one of the is in the hallway this is at Columbia school we do not have a interior hallways here at kitley school so I'm just going to show you what the fogging looks like in the classroom I can see them fogging of the space portable handheld again covers the whole classroom so that's what it would look like on our campus I'd like to move towards what are instructional model will look like again this is 4 rtk through 6th grade so we did take into consideration student parent responses and and teacher feedback so at the Forefront is making sure that we're able to follow State and county health and safety guidelines that our students and our staff are safe teachers want to make sure that there are focusing on one group at a time so there will not be any live streaming of instruction we also want to make sure we're support supporting the needs of our most vulnerable students we want to make sure that we have stable groups and we're not mixing students we want to make sure that we are maintaining our instructional minutes that we don't have to read roster moves to dance into different classes we also will have daily check-ins in the morning and in the afternoon and students will all be together for that daily virtual ELD and aobrd instructional time and then also making sure that we can still provide this Construction we do have a staggered reopening timeline which means that our students will be coming in at different times so that we are bringing students onto campus gradually or youngest students are power crisis tk34 grade will be starting on April 19th the two days prior to that April 15th and 16 which are Thursday and Friday the teachers will be assigning asynchronous work so they can come in and make the classrooms are ready for the following Monday but I do want to share with you that our teachers have already started coming in these cleaned the classrooms and they're coming in and starting to set up our 4th to 6th grade students FTC student will be coming in on Monday April 26th again the 22nd and 23rd students will be working these synchronously so the parents teachers are preparing bathrooms and then if everything goes well our 7th and 8th graders will be returning May 3rd and they will be working asynchronously on the 29th and the 30th right now we do not have an instructional model for what that will look like. we'll update our parents as soon as we have that information we just recently have had guidance released from the county so we're still working on that are Head Start and preschool is also coming back on April 26th on the 19th they will have a virtual tour of the classroom with the teacher or teachers who are on site will be here from 8:15 to 11 15 / teacher will be Tatiana Rios and her instructional aide or beliefs that Arena we do have the afternoon instructor on but they will continue to work virtually Carmelita Gonzalez and her instruction Elite is Chinese. so I'd like to talk about what our groups will look like our group a is going to be our hybrid group that will be on campus two days a week and I could be will be the same that will continue on distance learning a Monday through Friday so we look at what the schedule will look like and we will share this with our teachers so that they can intern you know send it home to you so that you have a better Trinity to look at it more closely so students that will be in person will come to campus Monday and Tuesday they will start their day off at 8 they will have a recess break in between and they will be ending their day depend on their life span at 11:12 and 12:10 so they'll go home they will have lunch and then they will log back in 11:45 1245 12:55 for a dish asynchronous work on Wednesday everyone will be together online from 8 to 10 and then they will work asynchronous the after that on Thursday the students that were here are now going to stay at home they will check in with the teacher from 8 to 8:45 and they will work asynchronously till 12 till 10 but will check in with the teacher for the last 10 minutes before they log off for the day that's the group that's coming in to campus Tri-C two days a week our group b will be the students that will stay home will continue distance learning so they will be checking in on Monday and Tuesday from 8 to 8:45 they will have their Independent Learning from 8:45 to 11:10 1212 in the last 10 minutes they will check in with the teacher if there are any questions anything like that so that's going to be Monday Tuesday on Wednesday again they're together online from 8 to 10 and then independently from 10:20 to 11:20 and then on Thursday they will log in with the teacher and have live interaction or live and tractor instruction with the teacher 212b will have breaks in between so that will happen Thursday and Friday and they will end their time with teacher at 12 1210 have lunch then they will log back in and finish independently online any of the other work that needs to be completed so this is the group that will continue and distance learning so for the group that will be on site you know they will have a supervised to recess at their scheduled time they will have designated areas on the playground they will have dedicated equipment we are ordering additional equipment we will have our supervisors here and we will have hand washing procedures after they play so before they come back in there washing your hands and our dismissal similar to when they're coming in but we do wants to create that separation for everyone and again will be sharing this with teachers and they in turn will be sharing it with you for our students that had transportation in the past they will continue to have that option the temperatures will be taken before they board the bus and they must be wearing their masks seating will be socially distance so either they're alternating Steve's or every other seat the bus drivers will be students and the buses will be disinfected between routes so social and emotional support for our students parents and staff is very important and we want to share what place and the resources that will be available so our students do have lessons and have been receiving lessons throughout this school year and they will continue you may see those or may have seen. the meter and me with Cognito which is our Suicide Prevention and then our teachers have trauma have received training to be able to identify behaviors in dress or respond to them appropriately our staff also receive support we want to make sure that they have access to two resources so we have partnered with LA County put out monthly Wellness email calendars so there are a lot of resources available to our staff we also have resources available to our families through Jeff Seymour family center in the partners that work with our district and so we have workshops that help our parents be informed able to recognize different thing I can have resources available to you so things like anxiety disorder effects in the pandemic so the variety of things available to you are Food Services will can you our students will continue to have access to seven days worth of food through our meal distribution kidneys mail distribution day is Friday from 3 to 5 they will continue to be individually wrapped so something to keep in mind is that students who are returning to in-person will need to have breakfast at home before coming to school and ask their being dismissed they will have the option of a grab-and-go lunch they can take home and have it home are students who are in The Learning odds this is childcare for essential workers so these students will continue to receive breakfast lunch and dinner depending on how long they're with us because the program bus run from 6:30 a.m. to 6 so you may be wondering what happens if my child is exposed to a person who tested positive for covid-19 will we will be conducting contact tracing the nurse and the administrators will be taking care of that if you're a closed contactor if your child has a close contact and you will be notified that they were exposed to this person if you do not receive a phone call then your child not identified as somebody being a close contact also want to make sure you know close contact me and somebody that with was within the 16th distancing for more than 15 minutes do all members of the sky Community will receive an official letter notifying them of a positive key on campus and if we do have a confirmed case the classroom will be placed on quarantine that means they will be returning to 100% distance learning and then we will notify everyone of the return date so that's just following the guidelines that have been set for us you may also be wondering if students have to wear their uniforms so we do have redress has an option for the remainder of the school year we do have board policy guiding though what that look like so we just passed the students being appropriate attire right nothing inappropriate appropriate shoes that cover the toes that have a strap we also want to make sure that students aren't wearing clothing that would be a distraction to others nothing that you know has any Traeger alcohol-related Graphics anything like that so just know that free dress is an option and if you're still wondering you know what option you should take think about talk to your child and what their needs are due do you think your child would benefit from being in a structured setting do they do better in the classroom can they maintained a 6-foot distancing will they be able to keep the ask on your child understand school will look a little differently this year has your child had success with distance learning you know if they have and they're able to work independently maybe aren't able to keep their masks on if they are participating actively engaged in discussions while distance learning continuing distance learning they work for them will take about call before you make that decision but we do need you to commit to one or the other so we will be putting out a commitment form and we will need you to select one of the options for the remainder of the school year if you do, you know what your grab-and-go meal preferences we do need you to submit this form To Us by March 24th so that we can better plan for our students we are available mr. crowns and I you know are available to answer question but we do have a couple of questions that you may want to ask her be curious about so the first one is our teachers. the native we have shared that we have access to the vaccine and most of our staff is taking advantage of that but we can't comment on those personal decisions that teachers are making because it is considered confidential information how many students per classroom depends on how many students are coming back but I can tell you that we have followed the six for distancing and were able to fit about students per classroom 15 to 18 is our average but it will depend on how many students come back for our 7th and 8th grade schedule we don't know yet we are working on developing a plan that shiy with the guidelines and we will update our families as soon as we have that information and are you able to change your mind if you submit your form well we do have to ask you to please know that we need you to commit to one or the other because you will not be able to change your mind after you choose again we have to plan
